Associated Technical College - The Foundation of Education you can build on

Teledata Technology

We are nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology which is recognized by the United States Department of Education and we have been serving the telecommunications and electronics industry since 1976.

The labs, lectures, and exams are given on off duty hours that will work for the service person's schedule. We offer classes either in the mornings or evenings each week, we also offer a Saturday class. If a group has a minimum of ten students we can create a specific training schedule for their needs.

The program consists of 312 hours of combined computer and classroom training, given over a period of eighteen weeks. Our program can be tailored to suit the training and scheduling needs of military personnel. The program is in part computer-driven, using PowerPointT presentations, down loadable course ware., and lectures on CD-ROM.

In addition we currently are offering Certified Customer Service Representative at no charge. Many major companies now want this certification along with your technical certifications.

The cost for the entire program is $6998.96, funded through Tuition Assistance and MGIB-Top-up. In addition prospective students that have prior experience will be given credit and will not be required to take the complete program.

We offer students a choice of individual modules from our teledata or electronic technology program. Individual students have an option. We personally feel that many times, a single module, such as the Basic Fiber Optics module does not give the student the necessary skills to perform in the field, no matter what school the service person attends.

The students attend class on site, at an off base location, at which time; we will cover lecture, hands on labs and testing/certification

In addition, at each of our locations, the instructor is available to help the student successfully through the program. There is no additional cost for tutoring.

We understand the operational issues of the military take precedence over personal time. Our program is flexible in that, if the absence is military related, it can be made-up.

If a student gets transferred to another location, in many cases, we have classes there. We also have other methods to assist in completing the program, including CD's for self-study.

We believe that Fiber Optics is a significant skill to have.

I am the co-chairman of the National Fiber Optics Association Education and Employment Committee. This enables us to work constantly with the fiber industry. As example of this, is the Fiber to the premise, Verizon alone has invested over $20 Billion dollars in Southern California and the Boston Area in converting from a copper cabling system to totally fiber network. To learn more about what is going on in the industry I would encourage you to visit the FOA website at www.thefoa.org.

In working with Jim Hayes, The President of the Fiber Optics Association, we have created one of the first Fiber-to-the-premise programs in the nation, and our graduates are very successful in passing the FTXX Certification.

The Teledata Technology Program is composed of the following:

Cabling: Telephone voice/data cabling methods, types and applications; cabling categories and connecting blocks, cabling handling and termination; cabling topology and application.

General Radiotelephone Operators License w/radar endorsement

Fiber Optics: Fundamentals of fiber optics technology, handling fiber optic cables, splicing and termination, processes.

Advanced Fiber Optics: Fundamentals of advanced fiber optic technology. Handling of fiber optic cables. Extensive use of ST, SC, LC Connectors and proper termination of the same verified with fiber optic test equipment. The course also encompasses both means of splicing fiber optic cable consisting of mechanical, and fusion spliced cable. Course also will encompass building construction knowledge as well as extensive knowledge of fiber optic testing and trouble shooting procedures using the fusion splicer.

Fiber-to-the Premise: Fundamentals of fiber-to-the-premise, handling fiber optic cables, splicing and termination, and switch, processes.

National Fiber Optics Association: Certified Fiber Optics Technician National Fiber Optics Association: Certified Advanced Fiber Optics Technician National Fiber Optics Association: Certified Fiber-to-the-Premise

We have been successful in working with graduates in transferring the educational units to other institutions. Remember: transfer of units is up to the receiving institution. We have had students who have received college credit at regionally accredited colleges, some of which: University of Phoenix, National University, ITT, Mira Costa College, Palomar College, and University of San Diego. We work with our graduates to assist them if this is their desire.

A graduate may at anytime in the future refresh in any portion of the program at no cost.

If a student fails the certification testing they may refresh and retake at no additional cost.

If a student is deployed or goes on TDY or Det we can assist them.

We have trained over 7,000 active-duty military personnel all over the United States , including Iraq . The student is dealing with the program coordinators who have the ability to make on site decisions.

We are currently offering classes in China Lake . The students had to make a decision which school would best serve their needs. I would be happy to provide names and phone numbers, (with the students' permission), so you could talk to them about the results of their decision.

Success of any program is based on the success of their graduates in industry. We have a proud record and a lot of stories to tell.

We have a maximum of twenty-five students in a class. Our mission is to successfully have the student graduate from our programs. We believe the civilian certifications mean verification.

Following are the hours allocated to each program section:

Cabling 48 hrs
Fiber Optics 72 hrs
